Seven decorative ceramic plates. Acrylic on ceramic. 2020.
Every family has a dinner table mythology — the ones who always arrived late, the ones who feigned sleep to avoid eating, the particular chaos of five children descending the stairs at once.
Happy Family Dinner is a series of seven painted ceramic plates, each one a character study: not portraits, but behavioral archetypes drawn from memory. The medium is deliberate — decorative plates carry an expectation of harmony, of things placed carefully on walls and admired. What I paint onto them refuses that expectation gently.
The series works as a whole. Seven plates for seven figures; none complete without the others.
